Relationship Advice - 5 Ways To Keep Love Vibrant

You and your partner love each other.  In fact, you are so comfortable with each other that you feel completely secure and at ease in your relationship.

It's been clear, blue skies with smooth sailing so far.

Yet, something seems to be missing. 

 

The Diagnosis

 

Like yourself,  many couples are deeply in  love, but eventually the responsibilities of  work, business, running a household, raising children, etc. often takes a toll.

You find yourself making time for everyone and everything, with not enough left over for each other.

Before you realize it, your relationship begins to feel routine. Like the two of you are just going through the motions.

 

The Prescription

 

Keeping your love alive and vibrant will require intense commitment from you both, but these strategies can help keep the fires of your passion stoked.

 

1. Take frequent strolls down memory lane.  Pull out those old photos and home videos.  Reminiscing about pivotal, joyous events in your past evokes those same feelings in the present. So relive your first dates, your wedding, honeymoon, favorite vacations, etc., over and over again.

 

2. Play!  Ever watch children play? They go at it with wild abandon. Most of us have become so "adult," we have forgotten how good that feels.  But we can recapture that jubilant spirit if we dare!  Start a pillow fight.  Play tag.  Run through the sprinklers. Jump on that swing set. These kind of activities help you remember not to take life, and yourself, too seriously.

 

3. Perform random acts of kindness.   Many years ago, my grandmother gave me simple, yet sage advice about the importance kindness plays in a relationship. For example, if your partner is ill, take the day off work to take care of them.  Guys, buy her a bouquet of flowers just because. Don't take the frustrations of the day out on your partner. Be that shoulder to cry on. Keep in mind, kindness, as well as charity, begins at home.


4. Express your gratitude.  When you are enjoying a great relationship, over time it's easy to start taking it for granted.  However, nothing makes a person feel more loved and satisfied than feeling appreciated. Being appreciated is a core human need we all have. So, make sure to express your sincere gratitude to your partner often. 

 

5. Up your sexy game!  To say sex is important in a relationship is as obvious as saying water is wet. Still, many couples allow their sex lives to become stagnant and stale.  Does maintaining an exciting sex life require an investment of time and effort?  Yes, indeed.  Is it worth it?  Uh, yeah!  Of course, there are countless resources available for ideas you can use to spice up your sex life. Here are just a few tips:  read a sexy novel to each other in bed.  Sleep together naked more often.  Role play.  Don't allow your sex life to become dull.  Be adventurous, push your personal envelope a little,  and remember to have fun!

We all know keeping our relationships exciting takes work, but the "work" should be fun and invigorating!  If you feel your relationship is in a rut, then climb out of it!
